I have to make a question. What happen in spain with the tv contracts? A enterprise article, explain that in La liga, 75% of tv money goes to five teams. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Atletico de Madrid and Sevilla. In that group, 60% goes to Barcelona and Real Madrid. We are speaking about 100 millons euros for the two biggest teams.
If we compare, can look that the new teams in firts division, for example Numancia, only earn 1.5 millons euros. Is not very usefull and in my opinion, in this way La liga will never grown up. In last 20 years, only six different teams won the competition, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia, Deportivo, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad, but most times, Barcelona or Real Madrid finished as champions.
This only happend in low leagues like Scottland(Celtic or Rangers), Turkey(Fener or Galata),Holland(Ajax, Feyenord, PSV), and is not a good notice for Spain. But people who run notices, tv programs, newspapers and radio programs,believe that is better to be a bored league, with the same two main characters.
Only in the past years, where other two teams, Deportivo and Valencia won La liga, competition become big. No only was Barcelona VS Real Madrid, other voice appears, and the same in Champions League, where spanish teams arrived to the finals rounds every year. But nowadays, the best ligue is the Premier. Why? We have many examples. Hull City arrive to the top division, and get 25 millions pounds to buy new players, and Man United won the past years and also have the same money to purchase. Equality, that is the word. Why Have Real Madrid or Barcelona more advantage? If they are the best teams, Why have to feed them more? I don´t understand this. We can look at NBA, where worse teams, are the first to choose in the next DRAFT, and every team have the same options to win or to lose in money terms.
If my team, Real Valladolid, doesn´t sell merchandising, doesn´t big stars who make tv comercials, and doesn´t get a good tv contract, How we can arrive to Madrid or Barça level? No way. It seems, that a lot of people want to be like past and horribles times in spain, where only have two teams and the others only were sparrings.
An now, I want to know your opinions. What happend in other leagues? And well, today We have lose again (Valladolid 1-3 Malaga), but this is another thing.

UD Almeria: Alves, Bruno, Acasiete (Ortiz min 57), Chico, Perellano, Juanma Ortiz, Juanito, Iriney(Corona min 45), Crusat, Uche, Negredo (C.García min 80).

Real Valladolid: Justo Villar, Pedro López, Prieto, Bea, Nano, Rubio, Borja (Oldoni min 80), Pedro León, Victor (Medunjanin min 73) , Sesma (Escudero min 85), Goitom

I can´t believe it, really, I can´t. Two goals up at the end of the first half. All was possible, another victory, another great match, great defense, near close UEFA Cup… Fear? Problems? No, anybody saw it. Also, lucky, Almeria got two red cards…Nothing else? What can we ask more? But you never say never … The purple power faded out in dressing room..and drop to drop, Almeria conquest the game, and Valladolid warriors dead behind their goal. Horrible second half…What happend with the coach? Was you over there Mr Mendiribar? Bad tactics, bad substitutions…Absolutely ridiculous approach. And which was going to be…finally arrived…Almeria scored the first…and next, scored the second. Is posible? A good day becomes in bad day? A victory changes to a drawn? Murphy law enter in scene…red card to Valladolid and…3-2. Oh my god…really has happended.

But is only a race in this Tour, only a stone in road, only a rest in our way. Next time we will get more power, more hearth, more team spirit, and we will get again victory. We can! We are purples, we are the pride of Castilla.

Sergio Asenjo

Absolutely He is my favourite. Nobody could imagine that the solution for Valladolid’goal was at home. Since ten years, with biggest purchases, like Rivaldo,Zidane,Ronaldo or Becks, teams often didn’t look at their youth schools. But now, with the economy crisis, overall clubs as Valladolid have to use this politics.
And after others goalkeepers like César Sánchez,Albano Bizzarri,Alberto or Butelle, in Nuevo Jose Zorrilla Stadium play a genius with child aspect. He born in Palencia in 1989 (a very young guy) and joined into Real Valladolid “B” before have played in San Juanillo from his city. He entered first time in game in Season 07/08 versus Villarreal, because Butelle had played too bad and Alberto was ill.
Iker Casillas and Santiago Cañizares had bad beginnings, but Asenjo only receive one goal in his 4 first matches ¿Isn’t it a good notice? We can remember big errors in first Casillas matches, and now is one of best goalkeepers in world. Sergio give safety to any defense, not only Real Valladolid’s, also to Spain, because He plays for Under-21 team.
He gots a veteran concentration and a young reflexes and when Asenjo plays, seems that attackers have less speed, less shot and more fear. Maybe for this, Chelsea FC tried to buy Asenjo when he was only sixteen years, but he prefered stay in Valladolid for a time. The last summer, the war for buy the goalkeeper started again, and teams like Atletico de Madrid, Valencia, Manchester United or Villarreal asked for him. Finally, Valladolid retained Sergio, but with an very small clause(5 millons euros), and with his potential ¿Can Valladolid keep Sergio next season? Numbers doesn´t lie,when Asenjo isn´t in start-up, Real Valladolid suffers. He is currently injured, and in last 4 matches, only one winning (Versus Atletico Madrid). Sergio back soon!

Real Valladolid 2-1 Athletic Bilbao

Real Valladolid: Villar, Pedro López, Prieto, García Calvo(I.Bea 43’), Nano, Borja, Álvaro, Rubio, Pedro León(Vivar Dorado 92’), Victor (Medunjanin 83’), Sesma, Goitom..

Two penalty and one expulsion in a polemic game.
Valladolid got finally the victory in a difficult match. The first gol, arrive after a dubious penalty from Gorka Iraizoz to Sesma, and Victor shots and scores her third goal in season. Before that Athletic crash a ball into the goalpost, but the Pucelanos drive the game in good way. But in 44′ Garcia Calvo have problems and had to be changed by Iñaki Bea ¿Problems? Not really.
Ten minuts after 2º half start, a great counter attack from all the team, finished with another Victor goal. In 62′ another penalty, this time in Villar´s area, and also polemic like the first one.
Llorente fail inmediatly,Orbaiz find the goal (2-1). And next that, war, war and war. Athletic attacked and Valladolid defended. Yeste had a red card in 93′ and mach finished. Another victory and going up to 9th position.

The star: Victor, best player in game, two goals, work, and leadership.

The master: Jonathan Sesma, He drive the team, great passes, and very active all the game.

What a pity: The referee, too many errors.

The last transfer for Real Valladolid is Pedro Henrique Oldoni. He comes from Atletico Paranaense(Brazil), where played since 2005 111 matches and scored 33 goals. He isn´t the tipical brazilian striker with good touch and technical, his kind of play is diferent, his principal weapon is the power and his body, because he is 190 cm tall and 90 kg weight.
He is on loan (Valladolid pays 50% of player salary), and exist a clause for a future purchase for 3 millons euros.
-”The team has played very good, but He is here for help us. We needed this kind of player. He likes to play with his back to goal, but He must improve into the area”-Said Olabe, the Real Valladolid’s Soccer Director

In my opinion, Real Valladolid needed another striker, because Victor, who has been the team star since lot of years, is too old, and the others, Ogbeche and Goitom, are not adapted to La liga. But the question is,¿Is Oldoni the best option? ¿Is not better to give an oportunity to a boy from the academy? I´m not sure, and I´m going to explain why. Last season, teams like Real Betis or Valencia CF,asked for this player and finally didn´t buy him. Every year, in Brazil, appears the last Pele, Romario o Ronaldo, and with the time, disappear. In Brazil doesn´t mind defense normally, only attack, and strikers usually scores a lot of goals. But another thing you can think about is the next. The really good young players in Brazil, arrive to the National Team faster if they´ll become a world star , and Oldoni hasn´t even played with the Under-21 selection. He has got a dangerous european adventure, but Who knows? Maybe He really can be the next Fred or Adriano, or simply return to Brazil when the loan finish. We will know in the next months.

Now that you have chosen to become a fan of Real Valladolid
Things you must know

Valladolid is the capitol of the old and majestic Castilla y Leon, the most important spanish region in Middle Age. A land of brave warriors, like the Cid or the Queen Isabel the Catholic. Great battles have seen her eyes, big days of glory. But time is the biggest enemy in fact, and now this zone is only a desert field, and the crowd cry for this past years.

Castilla wake up!

Nowadays, warriors become footballers, with ball as weapon, with shirt as shield, but with the same aim. Here is the Real Valladolid, the most important team in Castilla y Leon. If you feel like the old men, with the spirit from a time when money isn´t the most important, this is your team. If you still believe in the great gestures, this is your team. If you think that past can return, this is your team .Because dreams always exist, because heros never die.

What about the team?

They are knowing as “Pucelanos” or “Blanquivioletas”. No team in the region has been at the highest level as long as this. Others, like UD Salamanca, Numancia or Burgos stayed sometime in the primera division, but not made a great job.

They have a team without any major stars, but with some very interesting players.

The young goalkeeper star, Sergio Asenjo, probably is the best Real Valladolid player, for most people, the next Iker Casillas. Very mature for his young age, with great reflexes, and perfect conditions to become one of the best goalkeepers in the future.

Pedro Leon is one of the most incisive players in Spain. Last year he played at UD Levante, He has a large and powerful shot. He is a natural leader.

The youth from Valencia CF Pedro Lopez, is the right side of the team. He did his best scoring against Real Madrid, with a shot from more than 40 meters.

Real Valladolid plays in the Jose Zorrilla stadium. Situated on the out of the city, and usually there is very cold. It is known as the flu stadium because many fans get ill with low temperatures. The stadium was built for the world cup 82 and its capacity is 27,000 spectators.
Their rivals are the UD Salamanca and Numancia, but derbys are not as violent as others.
